Biography

Adam Simmons is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Midgard Raven, LLC whose currently positioned as a Geospatial Industry Consultant driving solutions around satellite and aerial-based imagery analytics, machine learning, and open-source data. He is also the Executive Director at Project Geospatial, a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to increasing awareness of geospatial technology, community best practices, and educational resources. Active for close to 10 years, Adam has brought on industry experts, government speakers, and unique individuals that share amazing projects across geography, education, emerging technology, and imagery analysis.

Adam began his career as an enlisted member of the United States Air Force in 2005. His work started with imagery interpretation from sources such as Global Hawk, U2, Predator, and various satellite imagery platforms. His originative approach to technology and inventive ambition progressed him into roles developing GEOINT solutions for the 480th ISR Wing evolving the way GEOINT is practiced on a tactical level. His final assignment with the Air Force was at the Pentagon working at Headquarters Air Force from 2010-2012 where he was the GEOINT Solutions liaison to the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and National Geospatial Intelligence-Agency (NGA). Adam honorably separated from the Air Force in 2012 to pursue commercial opportunities.

Shortly after separating from the Air Force, Adam Simmons worked at GeoEye driving platform development of commercial satellite imagery ordering by the government through user engagement initiatives around the world. After the merger of GeoEye and DigitalGlobe, Adam transitioned to working for BAE as a contractor to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) developing Activity-Based intelligence tradecraft and methodologies. Before founding Midgard Raven, LLC Adam was the Chief Intelligence Analyst at BlackSky Global working on innovating automated satellite collection and global event detection.

Adam Simmons is the recipient of three Air Force Achievement Medals, one Air Force Commendation Medal, and an Air Force Meritorious, Service Medal. He is an active member of the USGIF. He carries a Bachelor’s in Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

His hobbies include location-based photography, drones, PC/Xbox gaming, and maintaining Project Geospatial, a webcast dedicated to the increasing awareness of Geospatial Technology.
